Field notes | Robust twining herb with large tri-foliate leaves. Flowers dark crimson which leaches out on contact with ethanol. Pods with golden-rusty hairs. |
Occurrence remarks | Local residents are fearful of this weed. State have changed cultivation practices where this species has invaded. Now use fire before cultivation to avoid contact with the irritant hairs on pods. Specimen discoloured by ethanol treatment (for quarantine purposes). Collected as part of the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy. NAQS Botanical Collection - Mareeba, Queensland. |
