Occurrence remarks | Locally common (20 clumps in area 7 m x 4 m but also elsewhere between road and swamp) clumped grass with culms to 81 cm high. Stems and leaves mid green. Leaves inrolled. Leaf sheath edged purple and split to node. Ligule ciliate 0.5 - 1 mm long on plants looked at. Inflorescence with open branches at maturity. Glumes and lemmas with purplish edging. Glumes green with upper margin hyaline and often with 2 - lobed apex; lower glume c. 6 mm long, upper glume c. 5.5 mm long. Florets 5 - 11 reducing in size towards apex of spikelets, lower florets with 3 stamens and 2 styles. Lowerst floret c. 8 mm long. Lemmas ending in 3 short teeth, central tooth longest. |
