Organism remarks Erect shrubs to 2 m tall but commonly to 1.5 m, forming patches over 10 m across. Pads dark green to brownish green, edges of areoles prominently brown. Spines commonly 2-5 per pad. Fruits carmine. Largest plants to 2 m tall, trunks to 16 cm diameter.
Occurrence remarks Disturbed flats. Red brown clay loam.
