Field notes Pileus conical, umbonate, to 80 mm diam., radially fibrillose, predominantly buff, dark brown in centre breaking up into numerous squamules. Stipe to 20 cm long, up to half of length below level of litter and soil; base somewhat bulbous, tapering upwards (above ground portion ± equal), 35 mm diam. at base, 8 mm diam. at mid length; mostly beige/buff, paler above annulus, white tomentose towards base. Annulus ± concolourous with stipe. Gills off white, moderately crowded. Flesh white.
