Field notes Shrub 1.3 m tall, 2.4 m across. Pads pale green - yellowish green. Leaves 5 mm long, terete, tapering to an apex, green tipped reddish. Receptacles 3.5 - 4 cm long, 1.6 - 2 cm broad at apex, obconic. Outer bracts yellowish green, fleshy mucronate. Petals yellow with a suggestion of green. Filaments yellow but green at base; anthers yellow. Style white, stigmas greenish yellow. Fruit dark purplish red broadly ovoid to subglobular or obconical, 3.5-4 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm diameter.
