Field notes Leafless cylindrical stems covered in sharp spines. To 50cm tall. No flowers. Notes on live material by R.J. Chinnock: Stems brittle, easily fragmenting into small segments. Stems glaucous grey green. Immature fruit 22mm long, 18mm broad at apex. Spine sheaths stramineous to light brown.
