Field notes Closely tufted perennial. No obvious rhizomes. Leaf blades inrolled and terete in cross-section when fresh. Inconspicuous ligule (0.3 mm). Pale leaf sheath, not purple or red. Lower culms and leaf blades softly pubescent. Most hairs of same length. Scattered distribution of hairs on leaves, like P. sieberiana. Hairs mostly antrorse but some spreading outwards. Very few (if any) nodes between basal leaves and inflorescence, although culms not yet fully developed due to grazing 2 months ago. Lemma appears to be mostly glabrous except along keel and margins. Keyed out to Poa physoclina, although difficult without mature flowering material.
Previous identifications Poa physoclina N.G.Walsh, Goddard M., 2018-10-24
Occurrence remarks A few (approximately 10) dense tufts. Destocked 2 months ago (but continued kangaroo grazing).
