Occurrence remarks | Herb to 1 m high. Only Brassicaceae weed with long and broad pods seen in chickpea crops viewed this day around Burren Junction. Flowers yellow. Pods hairless to densely hispid, to 4 cm long and with 3 valves in beak. Base of branches markedly purple. Most stems with retrose hairs towards base. Pre-emergent sprays used in chickpeas do not control S. arvensis but do control Rapistrum rugosum (L.) All. R. rugosum is locally common in wheat crops while S. arvensis is uncommon in such crops |
