Occurrence remarks Perennial herb to 80 cm high. Plants often have a dead branch as well as live ones. Numerous spreading white roots and sometimes a taproot from the base. Stems and upper surface of leaves mid green and with scattered woolly hairs (almost glabrous). Lower leaf surface with more hairs than upper surface. Edge of leaves recurved and with small teeth. Involucral bracts 8, rarely 9. Cypselas 2-2.6 mm long, pale brown with very short white hairs on ribs and a pappus of white hairs
