Field notes Caespitose clump. Stipe erect, curved/wavy, 10-14 cm high, more or less terete in cross-section or slightly biconvex, broader at base, base 23-30 mm across, centre of stipe 20-23 mm across, apex of stipe 20-23. Stipe mostly solid in cross-section, flesh off-white, strongly longitudinally striate, minutely granular, dry, dull, not staining when cut. Stipe pale cinnamon brown/fawn, Greyed-Orange 164C or Greyed-Orange 165D in the lower 1/2 of stipe, with a creamy/beige underlying colour Greyed-Orange 164D), striations brown. Young caps convex, dry, closest to Greyed-Orange 165A, with a paler centre, centre very slightly depressed, no umbo. Mature caps 10-11.5 cm across, broadly convex, very slightly sticky when moistened, centre flat, no umbo, no depression, centre of cap Greyed-Orange 164B, darker than rest of cap which is Greyed-Orange 164C, cap surface distinctly minutely wrinkled, pitted in the distal 1/2. Cap flesh off-white, no staining when cut, solid, cucurbit-scented when cut, pleasant scent. Gills moderately dense, creamyish grey, young gills paler. (RHS Colour Chart used).
