Occurrence remarks | Mature plants: all plants 20 - 40 cm with flowers and/or capsules. Flowering and fruiting: Flowers deep blues opening in sunshine. Capsules with distinct red lines. Mixture of larger clumps with several stems (underground rhizomes present) and smaller, single-stemmed plants. Flowers being visited by small moths/butterflies, Flowers and fruit looked consistent between plants, no evidence of hybridisation. Measurements from fresh flowers: Calyx 3.5 mm with lobes 1 mm long; corolla tube 1 - 1.5 mm long; lobes ovate, deep blues, 3.5 mm long; capsules narrow, c. 10 mm long with deep red lines; seeds very small, smooth, brown, glossy. |

Supplied as "Low-lying area several metres from patches of Melaleuca decora. Plants found in open, grassy area adjacent to dry pond. Clay soil. The area is often under water after rain. Strong mesic component in understorey. Grassy understorey 40 - 60 cm high. Dense growth of couch with range of taller grasses and herbs. Associates: Native species: Cynodon dactylon, Dichelachne micrantha, Agrostis avenacea, Centella asiatica, Juncus usitatus, Senecio quadridentatus, S. hispidulus, Cheilanthes sieberi, Cyperus sp., Epilobium billardierianum. Exotic species: Briza subaristata, Briza major, Pennisetum clandestinum, Senecio madagascariensis, Verbena bonariensis, Conyza sp." |
