Field notes Herb to 1.6 m high. Leaves dark green, many plants with lower leaves brown and recently dead. Ligules of outer florets pink or white; inner florets tubular, 3–5, with 4 yellow lobes. Upper involucral bracts with pink tips and upper margins. This species is also known as Aster squamatus (Spreng.) Hieron. One sheet with an adult plant and upper part of another plant. The other sheet with two juvenile plants.
