Infl. erect; fls. odorless (3:30 P.M., mostly overcast, were also open when observed at 7:30 A.M., and drizzling) very similar in structure to those of M. bracteosum but of very different color and the end of the infl. without the bracts of that species, the standard yellow green, the keel light violet-purple, visited by a large black bee which forces the two wing petals apart, also by a yellow butterfly.
