Field notes Leaf single, usually ground-hugging, roots more or less fleshy, white, few. Leaves thick, leathery, flat to slightly undulate, with stalk 5-22 mm long, stalk white. Leaf base with depression on upper surface. Leaf upper surface mid green with 2-3 lighter green obscure stripes on each side of the midnerve, the surface covered with numerous minute blunt papillae. Leaf margins often reddish. Leaf lower surface light green, with darker green longitudinal nerves, with minute glossy papillae. Flowers purplish red and white.
