Occurrence remarks herb to 18cm high. Plants arising from a white taproot either unbranched or with a number of branches which often arise below ground level. Stems, leaves and calyx grey-green. Leaves decussate and with obvious glands. Petals 5, yellow, longitudinally asymmetric although some appear to be symmetric. Stamens 17-30 on plants checked, filaments dark yellow, anthers paler yellow. Stigmas and styles 3, styles free to base, both stigmas and pale yellow. Seeds 0.3-0.4mm long.
