Habitat |
Supplied as "Very gentle slope or flat. Soil: Red-brown loam (clayey?) with thin ?algae crust (Cyanophyta) some mosses in the damper patches. Lichen in places. Acacia aneura var. aff. longicarpa (MET 16,050) high shrubland over Maireana planifolia x villosa, Maireana villosa low open shrubland with Plectrachne melvillei very open hummock grassland and scattered Chrysopogon fallax tussock grass. Acacia aneura var. aff. longicarpa (MET 16,050) 2-6.5 m 25%; Maireana planifolia x villosa 30-60 cm < 1%; Maireana villosa 30-45 cm 1-2%; Chrysopogon fallax 20-50 cm 1-2%; Plectrachne melvillei 40-60 cm < 5%. v; The surface was without crust in places (set but no lichen/cyanophyta). Small patches of the latter. One patch of Themeda triandra near the south-east corner (1/2 in the plot). One open area nearby had abundant Brachyscome iberidifolia - soil had a crust. Another patch had Goodenia prostrata abundant. The transition from site 920 to open areas to the west had much more Themeda triandra while a large part of the stand to the north-north-west of the plot had Maireana villosa with 10-15% cover. The Enneapogon polyphyllus was abundant and a little Plectrachne melvillei. Other species here were; Canthium suaveolens, Salsola kali. Where the stand abuts the lower colluvial slopes of Boundary ridge there was a band with no Plectrachne melvillei, a little Themeda triandra and patches of Eriachne pulchella ssp. dominii. This could be split off as a separate (but narrow) unit. Plants found nearby were; Pterocaulon sphacelatum, Cuphanotus andreanus, Eriachne pulchella ssp. dominii, Dactyloctenium radulans, Rhodanthe floribunda and Chrysopogon fallax. The fungus Podaxis pistillaris was recorded at this site. Associated annuals: Brachyscome iberidifolia, Perotis rara, Enneapogon polyphyllus, Polygala aff. isingii, Euphorbia coghlanii, Paspalidium rarum, Abutilon sp. West Angela Hill (M.E. Trudgen 16,132), Nicotiana rosulata ssp. rosulata, Rhodanthe propinqua, Eragrostis pergracilis, Digitaria ctenantha, Dichanthium sericeum ssp. humilius, Wahlenbergia tumidifructa, Paspalidium aff. clementii (site 976), Menkea villosula, Eragrostis cumingii, Iseilema membranaceum, Sclerolaena cornishiana, Euphorbia aff. myrtoides (MET 12,679), Cuphanotus andreanus. Associated perennials: Boerhavia repleta, Rhagodia sp. Hamersley, Maireana villosa, Aristida obscura, Cheilanthes sieberi ssp. sieberi, Digitaria brownii, Solanum ferocissimum, Spartothamnella teucriiflora, Solanum lasiophyllum, Panicum effusum, Fimbristylis dichotoma, Maireana planifolia x villosa. Associated lianes: Rhyncharrhena linearis." |
